Massaging with JOYA - Relaxation in your hand
JOYA has been developed so everybody can easily turn tensions, disgruntlement and stress into relaxation, recovery and well being.
- Whether for self-massages or partner/client-massages,
- Whether standing, sitting or laying down,
- Whether on the bare skin or on top of cloth,
- Whether at home, at work, at leisure time, in the car or at the massage table of a practitioner,
- Whether using one or two JOYA Massage-Rollers,
JOYA is the ideal choice not only for whole body massages like wellness and relaxation massages but also for neck- and shoulder-massages, deep tissue and trigger point massages, for hips, legs, hand and foot reflexology as well as cosmetic massages.
JOYA Massage-Techniques
The Basic Movements of the JOYA massage techniques consist of stroking, circling, kneading, walking and rubbing and should be done slowly. The rhythm should vary to create different sensations. Increase the pressure slowly. Please keep in mind that often less is more!
Attention: When massaging with crystal spheres, strong punctual forces can build up! You don’t need any or only little pressure when massaging with JOYA. Please therefore never use the JOYA massage roller ON the spine! Always move along the muscles to the right and left of the spine. You should, generally speaking, refrain from carrying out a massage in general if somebody has vein complaints or varicose veins!

Stroking
In stroking, the JOYA is moved over the body with light pressure using short or long strokes, in straight lines or in tight or wide arcs.
Circling
In circling, the JOYA is moved over the body with light pressure in tight or wide circles.
Kneading
Kneading involves straight or circular motions carried out under rhythmic pressure.
The rhythm of pressing and releasing creates the actual kneading effect, which penetrates deeper into the tissue and musculature.
Walking
Walking works on deeper tissue levels or muscle strands through pushing back and forth movements with one or two rollers. The pressure on the roller must be increased significantly to penetrate to the deeper levels.
Rubbing
In this technique, very small, tight circular motions are made under firm pressure.
This massage concentrates more or less on a single point, and can draw out knots and swelling.
In order to obtain relaxation and avoid ‘defensive’ tension, each new area should be opened up first with stroking and circling, before kneading and pummelling/walking. Please only use rubbing movements when the area has first been well massaged and warmed up. Stroking outwards should also be interspersed again and again, in between other movements, so that energy released during kneading, walking and rubbing can flow away. This makes the relaxation process more effective.
